Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a citizen of the U.S. or Canada.
  3. Must be a high school graduate to apply for this undergraduate award.
  4. Must pursue a bachelors degree in welding engineering or welding engineering technology. Priority will be given to welding engineering students interested in pursuing a career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor.
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  6. Must have an overall grade point average of 2.8 or higher with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in all engineering courses.
  7. Must enroll full time.
  8. Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Alabama, Georgia or Florida. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specified area for a minimum of one year.)

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. and Canadian undergraduate students who are 18 years of age or older. Students, attending school or living in Alabama, Georgia or Florida, pursuing careers in welding engineering or welding engineering technology. An overall minimum GPA of 2.8 or a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all engineering courses is required.

Additional Information: Financial need is not required; however, priority will be given to those individuals demonstrating a financial need. Please note: The applicant does not have to be a member of the AWS, but it is preferred.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online on the American Welding Society website. In addition to the completed application, the student must also submit the following: two letters of reference; a personal statement; original official transcript(s) sent directly from the college or university (if applying for more than one scholarship, only one transcript must be an original official transcript); verification of enrollment; a statement of unmet financial need; and an essay as specified on the application. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
