Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately two awards offered each year. The number of recipients is dependent upon the number of qualified students who apply.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  2. Must have a college grade point average of 3.0 or higher (an 88 overall high school average may be substituted).
  3. Must have an SAT score (reading/math) of 1100 or higher, OR have a computer-based TOEFL score of 195 or higher (71 on Internet-based exam or 525 on paper exam), OR be a member of Phi Theta Kappa in good standing.
  4. Must plan to attend Alfred State College in Alfred, NY.
  5. Must be an incoming freshman or transfer student.
  6. This award is for international students.
  7. Must attend a college or university in New York state.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for international students who meet two of the following four criteria: a 3.0 grade point average or higher; a combined SAT score of 1100 or higher; a TOEFL score of 195 or higher; a member of Phi Theta Kappa in good standing. The student must plan to attend Alfred State College in New York.

Application requirements for the Alfred State College International Merit Scholarship are:

  • Evid. of fin. support
  • Test scores
  • $50 app. fee
  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: International students entering Alfred State through agents or special articulation agreements may not be eligible for this scholarship.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.
