Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to enroll as a full-time, degree-seeking student.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must plan to attend Allegheny College in Pennsylvania.
  5. Must demonstrate academic excellence. Students recognized as Trustee Scholars usually rank in the top 25 percent of their high school class and have SAT/ACT scores consistent with their academic performance. Transfer applicants are expected to earn a cumulative college grade point average of 3.0.
  6. Must be a graduating high school senior OR undergraduate transfer student.
  7. Must attend a college or university in Pennsylvania.

Additional Information: Allegheny's Trustee Scholarships are awarded without regard to financial need to students who have balanced academic excellence with other distinctive activities while in high school. In addition, a limited number of Trustee Scholarships are available to highly qualified transfer students. The selection committee will consider the applicant's distinguished achievements in his/her extracurricular activities. Trustee Scholarship award winners will be notified via mail regarding their eligibility and amount of award.

Award Amount: Up to $28,000 annually, renewable up to three additional years providing the student maintains full-time enrollment at Allegheny College.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $112,000.

Scholarship information is available on the Allegheny College website. To be considered for this award, students must apply and be accepted for admission to Allegheny College. A separate scholarship application is not required. Admissions information is available online at sites.allegheny.edu/admissions/apply/. Students may apply via Allegheny Application Portal or the Common Application. In addition to the admissions application, the student must also submit the following materials: a personal essay; a school report and recommendation completed by his/her high school guidance office (or instructor evaluation/recommendation letter for transfer students); official high school and college transcripts; a teacher recommendation (for high school students); and standardized test scores. Transfer students must also submit a mid-term report, course descriptions, and a college official's form. Consideration for the Trustee Scholarship is automatic when students apply for admission by the deadline date.
