Number of Awards & Eligibility: 42 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a legal resident of the state of Colorado and attend high school in Colorado for junior and senior year.
  4. Must attend an approved four-year Colorado college or university.
  5. Must be a full-time student.
  6. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  7. Must demonstrate a record of strong academic achievement.

Additional Information: Scholarships are awarded by a committee selected by the trustees of the Boettcher Foundation. Selection criteria include superior scholastic ability, evidence of leadership and involvement, service to community and school, and outstanding character. While Boettcher Scholars come from all over the state, represent diverse backgrounds, and posses an incredible array of talents, they share two overriding characteristics: an intense intellectual curiosity and a passion for involvement. A Boettcher Scholar is expected to participate and make contributions in endeavors outside the regular academic curriculum, consistent with abilities, interests, and potential presented by the scholar to the foundation on the basis of which the award was made.

The Boettcher Scholarship application packet is a separately published set of documents and cannot be obtained from the Boettcher Foundation website. Applications are distributed every September to high school counselors. A student who meets the minimum eligibility requirements may request an application from his/her high school guidance counselor or complete it online. In addition to the completed application form, each student must submit an original essay, transcripts and standardized test scores. All forms and materials must be postmarked or electronically time-stamped by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 1 of the applicant's senior year. Following the application deadline, letters of notification will be sent to each applicant disclosing whether or not he/she has advanced to the next stage of the selection process.
