Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to 70 awards offered annually. Please note: A limited number of awards are available for doctoral students.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be pursuing a master's degree or a doctoral degree. Doctoral students must be enrolled in a Ph.D., D.Min, or other terminal degree program and be in the project or dissertation stage of the degree.
  4. Must be actively pursuing training for ministry that complements the mission and purpose of CBF.
  5. Must be Baptist and demonstrate a deep commitment to and ongoing relationship with Christ.
  6. Must be enrolled full time.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. students who are pursuing a ministry-focused degree and are of the Baptist religion. Students must be pursuing a master's or doctoral degree. Doctoral students must be in the project or dissertation stage of the degree.

Additional Information: The Ministries Council of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship will recommend recipients based on the application of the students and the belief that the students selected represent the best possible potential local ministry leaders for the mission and the ministry of CBF. All applicants must demonstrate the following qualities: clearly identify with CBF or espouse core values of CBF; demonstrate actions and activities that complement the mission and purpose of CBF; demonstrate a desire to pursue high quality scholarship; show leadership potential within CBF missions and ministry. Recipients are expected to: attend CBF's General Assembly on June 28-July 1, 2017, in Atlanta, Georgia (or other nationally sponsored event if approved in advance, i.e., ChurchWorks, Advocacy in Action, SelahVie); represent CBF on campus and in local churches; assist in planning and organizing CBF Day on his/her campus (for master's students); involve the greater CBF family of churches and individuals in some aspect of his/her dissertation/project (if a doctoral student); submit two blogs highlighting his/her experiences within the context of his/her ministry or educational setting; and become involved in state and regional CBF organizations as appropriate.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually, non-renewable. The student will also receive a $1,000 travel stipend to attend the required CBF national event. Scholarship funds are provided in equal installments in fall and spring semesters. Funds are not available for summer nor interim period coursework.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications are available on the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) website. Please note: There are separate applications for master's and doctoral students. In addition to a completed application, each student must submit the following materials: responses to the questions listed on the application; a resume; a photograph (JPEG format preferred); official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate institutions he/she has attended; and three completed reference forms, one each from a professor, a local church leader, and a personal reference. Reference forms are available on the CBF website, and must be submitted in sealed envelopes with the recommender's signature across the flap. Please note: Doctoral students are not required to provide reference forms. The application, resume, and photograph must be submitted via email to the address provided. The transcripts and reference forms must be submitted via mail to the address provided. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline date.
