Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be an Alaska Native original enrollee, or descendant of an Alaska Native original enrollee, of CIRI (Cook Inlet Region, Inc.).
  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be a full-time student.
  6. Must be an Alaskan Native.
  7. Must be accepted or enrolled in a two- or four-year undergraduate or graduate degree program.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Undergraduate or graduate Alaska Native original enrollees, or descendants of Alaska Native original enrollees, of CIRI (Cook Inlet Region, Inc.) are eligible for this award. Students must enroll full time and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the CIRI Achievement Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Official Transcript
  • Proof of eligibility
  • Photo (headshot)
Additional Information: CIRI Achievement Scholarships are merit scholarships awarded to applicants with exceptional academic promise. Each recipient may only recieve one award from the CIRI Foundation at a time. Conditions of the scholarship are recipients must complete full-time enrollment with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or better. Award recipients are expected to complete the courses for which they received their award.

Award Amount: Up to $8,000 annually, non-renewable. Students must reapply for the award each year. Up to $500 of the award amount may be used for personal expenses, including, but not limited to, off-campus housing and meals, transportaion and childcare.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,000.

Applications and guidelines are available online from the Cook Inlet Region Inc. (CIRI) Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit proof of eligibility (first-time applicants only); one letter of reference from current or former teachers, employers or others who know of his/her past experience and potential to succeed in his/her chosen career; a copy of his/her official transcripts or certificate of completion; a statement of purpose (as described on page two of the application); a letter of acceptance; proof of enrollment; and a photograph of himself/herself (optional). The period to fill out an online application will not open until 30 days prior to the deadline. You are able to create a online student profile prior to this submission period, however. Once your student account is approved and the online application period is open - you can login with your username and password to begin applying online. Applications and supporting materials must be received by the deadline in order to receive consideration.
