Number of Awards & Eligibility: 35 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have at least one parent who is a teacher in the state of California.
  3. Must be a resident of California.
  4. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. students who have at least one parent that is a teacher in a California school. Applicant must be the dependent child of an active member of CTA, CTA/NEA-Retired or deceased CTA member and be claimed as a dependent on the member’s current year’s IRS form. The CTA Scholarship for Dependent Children offers a maximum of 35 scholarships of up to $5,000 each. Click here to learn more and apply today!

Application requirements for the CTA Scholarship For Dependent Children are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Have your CTA/SCTA membership ID# available
  • School/Community Activity Record
Additional Information: This program based on academic achievement provides up to 35 scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each to dependent children of active, retired or deceased CTA members. In addition, the highest-scoring applicant is awarded the Ralph J. Flynn Memorial Scholarship.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $175,000.
