  1. Must be U.S. citizen.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in the upcoming fall semester.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Description: This essay contest is open to U.S. undergraduate students who have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: Direct Textbook helps parents and students search online bookstores for bargain textbooks, saving them money and time. The company allows parents and students to get more for their used books with its college textbook buyback price search, and to save on textbook purchases. Once the contest is closed all essays will be reviewed and the winners will be notified by email. *Please note: Applicant must not be previously or currently incarcerated.

Award Amount: The first prize is $2,000, second prize is $750, and third is $500. All awards are provided on a one-time basis and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

The scholarship application and additional information is available online on the DirectTextbook.com website. This is an essay contest. The student must prepare an essay of no more than 500 words that answers the question: "What is independence? What is the importance of independence in your life?" The essay and student's information must be submitted electronically using the online submission form. All entries must be submitted by the deadline date. Students are encouraged to apply early, as only the first 5,000 eligible entries will be considered.
