Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be attending an apprenticeship or a trade school program to attain a technical degree for plumbing, HVAC or electrical.
  3. Must be a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, or the Cayman Islands.
  4. Must be a minority student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The NexStar Technicians in Residential Plumbing, HVAC or Electrical Scholarship is available to minority students who are enrolled in an apprenticeship or a trade school program for a technical degree in plumbing, HVAC or electrical. Applicants must be a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, or the Cayman Islands.

Application requirements for the Diversity in Plumbing, HVAC or Electrical Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
Additional Information: The Nexstar Legacy Foundation is devoted to bringing new talent into the home and commercial services industry. The scholarship program is open to qualified individuals interested in entering, or currently working in, the plumbing, HVACR and/or electrical fields.

Award Amount: $3,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,500.

Applications and information are available online at the NexStar Foundation website. In addition to the completed online application form, applicants must submit the following items: Completed personal, educational and employment information; SAT and ACT scores if available; high school and/or college transcripts as appropriate; A list of community & leadership activities; one to three letters of recommendation; a career choices survey; and responses to the essays listed on the form. All applications and supporting documentation must be submitted online prior to the deadline date. Completed submissions will be reviewed on a 60-day cycle throughout the application year.
