  3. Must be active in a church community.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: The Fred E. Kiefer and Florence E. Kiefer Scholarship is available for undergraduate students in the greater St. Louis metropolitan region. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and must be active in a church community.

Additional Information: The Fred E. Kiefer and Florence E. Kiefer Scholarship was founded in 1997 for the purpose of recognizing and rewarding those college students in the greater St. Louis area who are also active in a church or church-related youthgroup. Award selection will be based on a combination of academic merit, financial need, essay submissions, and strength of recommendations. Students should submit one recommendation letter from a teacher or instructor who can speak to the applicant's academic successes, and one recommendation from a religious leader who can attest to the student's regular and active participation in the church community. Scholarship Central is made possible by a joint commitment between St. Louis Graduates and the St. Louis Community Foundation, as well as a variety of private and public sponsors. All funds provided by St. Louis Community Foundation do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, national origin, gender, age, color, sexual orientation, veteran status, physical or mental disability.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

To be considered for this award, students must register an online account with the Scholarship Central scholarship application system. In addition to the online application form, applicants for the Fred E. Kiefer and Florence E. Kiefer Scholarship must submit: responses to the supplemental questions; high school and/or college transcripts; proof of financial need; two letters of recommendation (preferably one from a priest, pastor, or deacon); an essay describing a time the applicant overcame adversity; and an optional personal statement that describes any unusual circumstances the applicant may be facing. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted through the online system no later than the deadline date.
