Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, all eligible students will be considered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be ranked No. 1 of the graduating high school class.
  3. Must be accepted to and enrolled at Hope College, MI as a first time freshmen.
  4. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.
  5. Must attend college in Michigan.

Description: This award is available to high school seniors who are planning to attend Hope College in Michigan. The student must be ranked No. 1 in his/her graduating high school class.

Application requirements for the Hope College Valedictorian Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • SAT/ACT Scores
Additional Information: Hope College offers a variety of scholarships to incoming students. Selection is determined based on the student's high school record, including: class rank, grades and course selection, application date, and national test scores, at the time of admission. Hope College Scholarships are limited to one per student with the exception of Distinguished Artist Awards, which may be combined with another scholarship. Valedictorian Scholarships are awarded to high school valedictorians who are not selected to receive one of the other Hope-sponsored merit-based scholarships.

Award Amount: $6,000 annually, renewable for an additional three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $24,000.

To apply, students must apply for admission to the Hope College. No separate scholarship application is required. Interested students must contact Hope College Admissions by phone, e-mail, mail, or website to request an application packet, or apply online from the college website. There is a $35 application fee. In addition to a complete application, students must also submit an official high school transcript, SAT or ACT test results, and a personal statement/essay. Home schooled students must also submit a home schooled certification statement and a letter of recommendation from a non-family member. Students are encouraged to apply for admissions before November 1 of his/her high school year. Admission applications completed after November 1 will be reviewed and decisions sent on a rolling basis.
