Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  4. Must be an incoming freshman or current student at the University of California.
  5. Must be a farm worker OR be the child of a farm or migrant worker.
  6. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.
  7. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate students who are farm workers or the children of a farm or migrant worker. Students must plan to attend the University of California.

  • SAT scores (freshman only)
Additional Information: The Lapiz family members created the Lapiz Family Scholarship in honor of their parents, Apolonio and Arcadia Lapiz, who were farm workers, and to support students of farm working background who choose to pursue a college education at the University of California.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online on the Asian Pacific Fund (APF) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: copy of his/her most recent official grade transcript(s), including the grading scale; a copy of his/her SAT score report(s) (freshman only); and a copy of his/her Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline date.
