Additional Information: Since 2003, Attorney Michael A. DeMayo has offered high school seniors a chance to win a scholarship toward their college education. When the program began 10 years ago, the firm awarded five $1,000 scholarships to Mecklenburg County seniors who wrote essays on how our community could help curb underage drinking and driving. A panel of judges representing the Law Offices of Michael A. DeMayo will choose 15 winners. The Scholarship Committee will consider these criteria in making their selection: academic achievement; letters of recommendation; SAT or ACT scores; community and school involvement; and presentation. The presentations will be judged on students’ abilities to analyze and discuss the topic and produce a quality video/PowerPoint/brochure/website/essay. The decision of the judges will be final. Each scholarship recipient will be notified by telephone in early April. Applicants who are not selected will receive a letter in the mail.
