Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  3. Must be currently enrolled in an engineering or engineering technology curriculum which has been accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (or comparable accreditation in Canada and Mexico) and have an interest in railway engineering. Students must be Railroad Engineering and Activities Club (REAC) members or club officers.
  4. Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student.
  5. Must attend Michigan Tech University.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Engineering students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at Michigan Tech University who are Railroad Engineering and Activities Club (REAC) members or club officers are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and have an interest in railway engineering.

Application requirements for the Michigan Tech Alumni Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Resume
  • Cover letter
Additional Information: The AREMA Educational Foundation provides scholarships to engineering students who are specializing in the railway industry and supports other educational and training endeavors that help to ensure the future of the profession. Students must be in good standing at Michigan Tech University. This scholarship is available to all Railroad Engineering and Activities Club (REAC) Members and Club Officers.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
