Additional Information: Middletown Community Foundation was created in 1976 as a fund of the United Way, and ultimately became an independent entity in 1986 after a fund-raising campaign headed by Bill Verity. During this fund-raising campaign, Elliott Levey challenged the community to raise $2 million and offered to match that contribution with $1 million of his own. The community responded enthusiastically, allowing the campaign to raise significantly more than its goal and to prove solid footing for growth over the next 20 years. To further the interests of the Middletown community, this scholarship is provided to local area residents who have graduated from a Greater Middletown high school (Middletown, Franklin, Madison, Monroe, Trenton), as well as students who grew up in Middletown, and those who retain a permanent residence there. Applicants must have completed at least one year of academic study prior to applying for this award.

Award Amount: $500 to $2,500 annually, non-renewable. Previous recipients are eligible to re-apply in future years, so long as they remain eligible.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.
