Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships awarded depends on available funding and on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be the spouse of an Air Force Active Duty employee, an Air National Guard employee, or an Air Force Reserve employee. Spouses who are themselves Air Force members, or in ROTC, are not eligible.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  4. Must be a U.S citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Undergraduate students must be enrolled for six credit hours or more when the scholarship is awarded in January. Graduate and post-graduate students must be enrolled for three credit hours or more.
  6. Must be attending classes at the undergraduate or graduate levels in the current academic year.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for current U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are spouses of Air Force, Air National Guard, or Air Force Reserve members. Students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Additional Information: The Air Force Spouse Scholarship program is designed to encourage Air Force spouses to pursue associate or bachelor undergraduate or graduate/post-graduate degrees. Scholarships are awarded in June.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable. Scholarships may be used to pay for any reasonable cost related to pursuing a degree. This would include tuition, books, and any remaining money can be used to pay for either transportation or childcare costs.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online from the Air Force Association (AFA) website by clicking on the 'Information for students' link, and then clicking on the 'Scholarship' link. All applications and supporting materials must be submitted online through the online application portal. The applicant must submit the following with the application: an image or scan of an original or copy of his/her most recent college/university transcript or a report card from his/her last semester verifying grade point average; proof of acceptance/registration into a regionally-accredited community college, college or university; a two-page, double-spaced essay describing his/her academic and career goals, the motivation which led him/her to this decision, and how Air Force and other local community activities in which he/she was involved in will enhance his/her goals; a photo of the applicant (preferably a head shot); and two letters of recommendation. A letter of endorsement from the local AFA Chapter would be welcomed and encouraged. Application and materials must be received by the deadline date. It is recommended that students submit applications as early as possible, however.
