Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to attend a four-year public institution of higher education in New Mexico.
  3. Must be a non-resident of the state of New Mexico, or a non-citizen of the United States.
  4. Must be an incoming or current undergraduate student.
  5. Must enroll full time.
  6. Must demonstrate high academic achievement. The required grade point average and ACT score requirements are set by each participating institution.

Description: Undergraduate students who plan to enroll full time at a public New Mexico postsecondary institution are eligible for this award. Students must be non-residents or non-citizens of the United States, and must demonstrate high academic achievement.

Additional Information: The New Mexico Competitive Scholarship program was created to encourage out-of-state students, who have demonstrated high academic acheivement in high school, to enroll in public institutions of higher education in New Mexico. Students will be required to meet certain high school grade point average and ACT score requirements; more information is available from their college/university financial aid office.

Award Amount: Recipients of this award will receive the difference between out-of-state and in-state tuition. Awards are renewable for up to four years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,090.
