Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards may vary based on the number of eligible students.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a New Mexico resident.
  3. Must have a combined family income of less than $30,000 annually.
  4. Must graduate in the top 5% of the class OR have an ACT score of 25 or higher or SAT equivalent of 1140 or higher.
  5. Must graduate from a New Mexico High School and plan to attend a public college in New Mexico or St. John's College or College of the Southwest.
  6. Must be a high school graduate or older and be enrolled at an eligible institution by the end of the twenty-first birthday.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Description: This award is available to New Mexico resident high school students who are planning to attend Public colleges in New Mexico or St. John's College or College of the Southwest. Students must be enrolled his/her 21st birthday and graduate from a New Mexico high school in the top 5% of the class or score 25 or higher on the ACT.

Application requirements for the New Mexico Scholars Program are:

Additional Information: The New Mexico Scholars' Program was created to encourage New Mexico high school students to attend public or selected private non-profit colleges in New Mexico. Awards are made based on both financial need and merit.

Award Amount: Award helps pay for the cost of tuition, required student fees and books, amounts may vary and are renewable for up to three additional years. Students should contact his/her institutions financial aid office for detailed information.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,116.
