Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must graduate from a New Mexico public high school, an accredited New Mexico private high school, or have obtained a New Mexico GED (home-schooled students).
  3. Must enroll full time.
  4. Must attend an eligible New Mexico public postsecondary institution.
  5. Must be a resident of New Mexico.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must be enrolled in the first regular semester immediately following their high school graduation and have completed at least 12 credit hours.
  8. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher during the first semester of college.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to New Mexico high school students who are enrolled at an eligible New Mexico public postsecondary institution. Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) at an eligible New Mexico public college or university, in the first regular semester immediately following high school graduation; and must obtain and maintain at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA.

Additional Information: The Legislative Lottery Scholarship helps pay tuition expenses for New Mexico high school graduates (or GED recipients) who plan to attend an eligible New Mexico public college or university. Students establish eligibility in the first regular semester immediately following their high school graduation and funding begins in the second college semester. Award Amount: The Legislative Lottery Scholarship pays a percentage of tuition at eligible New Mexico postsecondary institutions. Awards are renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters providing the student maintains continuous enrollment with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,346.
