Additional Information: The International Student Scholarship (ISS) was set up by the Oregon public universities to involve international students in the educational programs of Oregon communities and at the same time to assist them in meeting the costs of attending university in Oregon. A specially-appointed selection committee at SOU is charged with choosing award recipients. A variety of factors is considered in the selection process for this program. SOU also strives to maintain a broad cultural and national representation in both programs. Selection will depend upon SOU's ability to utilize the applicant's cultural service. For both programs, preference is given to students with a strong academic record. Financial need is taken into account in the selection process. Applicants who have never received International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) or ISS funding previously will be given higher consideration than those who have received such assistance in the past.
