Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior at time of application. The student must be in a position to accept the scholarship for the school year in which it is being awarded.
  3. Must be a female.
  4. Must major in engineering (any field).
  5. Must attend or plan to attend one of the following New Mexico institutions: New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, New Mexico State University, or University of New Mexico.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  8. Must enroll full time.
  9. Must be a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for female undergraduate students attending an engineering program at selected New Mexico universities. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and be members of SWE.

Additional Information: The availability of the scholarship is dependent upon renewals. Applicants may not be current recipients of a renewable SWE scholarship or receiving full funding for education from another organization (such as members of the armed services attending US military academies and students receiving full reimbursement from an employer.) The applicant must enroll or plan to enroll in a computer science or engineering program accredited by ABET. Applicants must be enrolled in a program accredited by ABET. Award Amount: $2,000 annually, renewable for up to three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications must be completed online at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) website. The applicant should submit only one application; she will be considered for all scholarships for which she is eligible. In addition to completing the online application, the student must upload the following documents: current official transcripts from all schools attended; a letter of acceptance to an ABET-accredited college or university (if a transfer student or first-year graduate student); and a resume. The student must also submit email contact information for two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a teacher or college professor in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field who is familiar with the student's work. The other letter must be from a person who has known the student for two or more years and who is not a relative or member of the student's family. Recommenders will be sent information regarding submission of their letters; the letters are due approximately one week after the student's application deadline. The online application and all required supporting materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. CT on the deadline date.
