Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, all eligible students will be considered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  2. Must be admitted to and enroll in an eligible postsecondary institution no later than 16 months after graduating from high school.
  3. Must be a resident of Tennessee.
  4. Must have an ACT score of 29 or higher or an SAT score of 1280 or higher.
  5. Must have a final cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or higher.
  6. Must plan on enrolling in no less than six credit hours per semester.
  7. Must enroll in an associate or baccalaureate degree at an eligible postsecondary institution in Tennessee.
  8. This award is for U.S. students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to Tennessee high school seniors who are planning to attend an eligible postsecondary institution in Tennessee. The student must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher and a 1280 or higher SAT (math and critical reading only) or 29 or higher ACT score.

Application requirements for the Tennessee General Assembly Merit Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Up to $1,500 annual supplement to the HOPE Scholarship. The annual award amount is divided equally between fall, spring and summer semesters. Amounts awarded to part-time students are prorated.

Award Amount: A General assembly merit scholarship consists of two parts, a Tennessee HOPE scholarship and a General assembly merit scholar supplemental award. The award amount is up to $1,500 supplement to the HOPE Scholarship. The award is divided equally between fall, spring and summer semesters. Awards to part-time students are prorated.Awards are renewable for up to five years or until the student has completed a bachelor's degree, whichever occurs first. Recipients must complete the FAFSA each year and maintain a required grade point average at the end of any semester in which eligibility would have been reviewed.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

To apply, eligible students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The FAFSA must be completed as soon as possible after Oct. 1 and must be received by Sept. 1 for the fall semester, Feb. 1 for the spring and summer semesters. Early application is recommended.
