Number of Awards & Eligibility: Thirteen awards provided annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be under 25 years of age to apply for this award.
  4. Must be enrolled in a minimum of twelve hours of college credit at an accredited college, university, or vocational school.
  5. Must be the child or dependent of a Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) member.
  6. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 'B' or higher OR a GED score of 58 or higher.
  7. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for a child or dependent child of a Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) member. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, must be under the age of 25, and must have no prior arrests or convictions.

Additional Information: Scholarships will be awarded by a committee of the TMPA at the annual summer board meeting. All applications will be submitted to the selection committee anonymously. Students will be selected on the basis of: demonstrated scholastic ability; SAT scores; awards and honors; and extracurricular activities and/or work history. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail and payment will be made to the student after proof of enrollment is received by the committee.

Award Amount: $1,500 to $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Applicants are encouraged to reapply each year that they are eligible; however, they may only receive the award a maximum of four times.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,250.

Applications are available on the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: an official high school transcript; an official college transcript (if applicable); a recent photograph; a statement on his/her career and educational goals; and a resume with the applicant's awards, honors, work history, and community/extracurricular activates included. Students are encouraged to review the application to clarify all requirements. Completed applications and supporting materials must be submitted by the deadline date and sent to the address provided.
