In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student in the upcoming academic year.
  4. Must be a resident of Rhode Island.
  5. Must demonstrate superior academic achievement.

Description: This scholarship is open to Rhode Island students who are or will be attending a two- or four-year postsecondary educational institution. Students must demonstrate: superior academic achievement; financial need; and leadership in their school and/or community.

Applications are available on the Rhode Island Foundation website. The student must click on the "Scholarship/Fellowship Opportunities" link and then search for his/her desired scholarship to access the application. As part of the online application, the student must upload the following required documents: a completed 'Financial Information Worksheet' (accessible for download in the application); a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report), which is generated after filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); the most recent version of his/her student transcript (unofficial accepted); and an essay of 300 words or less on the topic listed on the application. Documents must be in Word, Excel, or PDF formats. File names should describe the attachment. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
