Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 400 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a continuing undergraduate student, incoming transfer student, graduate student, or law student.
  4. Must attend the University of Oregon.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, unless exceptional circumstances exist.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. continuing, transfer, graduate, and law students at the University of Oregon. Students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Application requirements for the University of Oregon General University Scholarship Program are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letter
  • Admissions documents (if not current student)
Additional Information: General University Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, and selection is highly competitive. They are made possible by the generous contributions of many individuals to the University of Oregon. Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria: academic performance based on review of transcripts from all past institutions and UO academic records (if applicable); extracurricular involvement; faculty recommendation; writing ability; and creativity as demonstrated in the essays. Recipients will be notified by May 15.

Award Amount: $1,500 to $3,300 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year in which they are eligible.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,400.

Scholarship information is available online on the University of Oregon (UO) website. All non-freshman applicants must complete the online General University Scholarship Application by Feb. 15. The applicant must also request that an instructor or professor submit the faculty recommendation form along with a letter of recommendation to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships by Feb. 24. All incoming transfer, graduate, and law students must, in addition to the above documents, submit the appropriate application for admission and supporting materials ($50 non-refundable application fee, official transcripts, and test scores) by Feb. 15. Supporting admission documents must be submitted to the Office of Admissions by Feb. 24.
