Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Wisconsin.
  3. Must have the top grade point average in his/her high school graduating class.
  4. Must attend a Wisconsin high school.
  5. Must be a U.S citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  6. Must attend an eligible college or university in Wisconsin.
  7. Must plan to enroll full time.
  8. Must be a high school senior at time of nomination.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to Wisconsin high school seniors who are planning to attend a University of Wisconsin campus, a college in the Wisconsin Technical College System, or an independent institution in Wisconsin. Students must have the top grade point average in their high school graduating class.

Application requirements for the Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Academic Excellence Scholarships are awarded to Wisconsin high school seniors who have the highest grade point average in each public and private high school throughout the state of Wisconsin. High schools with enrollments above 500 may award more than one scholarship. In the event of a tie, the high school should have a written policy stating the tie-breakers to be used, in the order in which they will be used. Typical tie breakers are ACT scores, or number of honors courses.

Award Amount: Up to $2,250 annually, renewable for up to three additional years providing the recipient maintains full-time enrollment with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,250.

Students do not apply for this award directly. The State of Wisconsin Higher Educational Aids Board (HEAB) sends nomination forms to eligible Wisconsin high schools. High schools will nominate eligible students and submit the nominations back to HEAB by March 1. Please note: In order to receive a scholarship, nominated students must be enrolled by Sept. 30 of the year of his/her nomination.
