Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. There were two awards given for the 2015-2016 academic year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be currently pursuing a graduate-level degree.
  3. Must be enrolled at an accredited university or college located in the United States or Canada.
  4. Must be studying structural and/or civil engineering.
  5. Must enroll full time, as defined by the institution the student is attending.

Description: This scholarship is open to students currently pursuing graduate-level degrees in structural and/or civil engineering at an accredited university or college located in the United States or Canada. Students must be enrolled full time.

Additional Information: All applications will be reviewed by the WRI's selected academic advisors and considered by the WRI Scholarship Selection Committee. Scholarships will be awarded based upon the completed application and submission of all required documents, scholastic and academic achievement and standing, career goals, and extracurricular activities. The applicant must submit evidence of university/college registration/enrollment, a class schedule, and a copy of the university/college acceptance letter prior to the WRI's payment of scholarship proceeds directly to the designated university or college.

Award Amount: $2,000 to $4,000 annually, non-renewable. WRI Scholarship recipients will also participate in the WRI Mentor Program for the year in which the scholarship is awarded. This mentor program matches a student with the appropriate WRI member based on the student's career aspirations.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications are available online on the Wire Reinforcement Institute (WRI) website. As part of the application, the student must provide an essay of 200 to 250 words describing why he/she selected engineering as his/her course of graduate study and how this course of study allows him/her to achieve his/her anticipated career goals. In addition to a completed online application, the student must submit an electronic version of his/her transcript and two letters of recommendation from engineering department faculty members. Supporting documents must be submitted via email to the address provided. Please note: All application materials are submitted electronically. Hard copies of any application materials will not be accepted and the application will be disqualified. All application materials must be submitted by the deadline date.
