Number of Awards & Eligibility: There are two types of these scholarships. Type 1 are Reserved for Commanders’ In-College Scholarships (CICS). They are offered to cadets pursuing a technical major. It pays 100 percent tuition and authorized fees at any public or private institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment. Selectees also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend. Type 2 is awarded to all cadets selected through the In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP) and pays up to $18,000 per year in college tuition at any public or private institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment. Scholarship payment is further capped at up to $9,000 per semester or up to $6,000 per quarter. Selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend. The number of awarda vary.

  1. Must attend a school with the Air Force ROTC program (host or cross-town) and must have completed at least one term of a full-time student.

Description: If you’re already in college, you can still experience the benefits of joining Air Force ROTC. In addition to detachment-specific scholarship opportunities, freshman and sophomore students may be eligible for the In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP). The program awards scholarships based on merit during two selection phases (fall and spring semesters) and are offered to cadets pursuing a technical major. Selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend.

Additional Information: Applicant must attend a school with the Air Force ROTC program (host or cross-town) and must have completed at least one term of a full-time student. Student must also be a United States citizen or be able to obtain U.S. citizenship by the last day of the term in which the student intends to be awarded a scholarship. Term and cumulative grade point averages will be used to assess your academic performance. The Air Force ROTC Commander will determine the minimum GPA and test scores, if applicable, for scholarship eligibility. Contact your school’s Air Force ROTC detachment for eligibility. For scholarship consideration, students must have a qualified Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB) physical. The physical exam will be scheduled at the nearest military base or at a designated civilian contractor. Must take and pass the AFROTC Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA), with a minimum score of 75. You’re under no service obligation by simply applying for an Air Force ROTC scholarship. However, if you are awarded a scholarship, you become obligated when you accept and sign an agreement with the United States Air Force. If you are under legal age in the state where the school is located, your parent or legal guardian must sign this agreement.

Award Amount: 1 pays Full tuition and fees plus a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend. Type 2 pays up to $18,000 per year in college tuition at any public or private institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment. Scholarship payment is further capped at up to $9,000 per semester or up to $6,000 per quarter. Selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $18,000.
