Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student.
  4. Must attend Columbia College of Missouri.
  5. Must be classified as a veteran (no longer serving and honorably discharged).
  6. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Description: This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students at Columbia College of Missouri who are veterans (no longer serving and honorably discharged). Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established in 2010 to honor Col. Charles McGee ’78 USAF (retired) who was a Tuskegee Airman, one of a select group of black World War II fighter pilots who shattered stereotypes. All applicants will be notified of the selection committee's decision by way of letter by April 18.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. The award is split between August, October, January, and March sessions in academic year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the Columbia College of Missouri website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: an essay of up to 500 words describing his/her personal circumstances and how education is, has, or is expected to make a difference in his/her life; two references from individuals who can attest to his/her personal and professional goals and accomplishments (form available online); and a copy of his/her DD214 showing honorable discharge status. All application materials must be mailed to the address provided, and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. CST on the deadline date.
