Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a veteran of the U.S. armed forces.
  3. Must be pursuing a career in real estate.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. Must be a resident of Illinois.
  6. Must attend a college or university in Illinois.
  7. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. veterans in Illinois who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in hopes of advancing a career in real estate.

Additional Information: George Patt was born September 5th, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from High School, George enlisted in the United States Navy at the height of the Korean conflict. George served in the Navy for the next twenty years rising from Seaman recruit to Commissioned Warrant Officer. During his service George was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Navy Unit Commendation. George was always interested in furthering his education and it was during his Naval career he discovered his passion for real estate. In honor of George Patt, this scholarship will be awarded annually to a U.S. veteran in the state of Illinois who is also pursuing higher education in pursuite of a real-estate career. Selection is based on military service, academic performance, financial need, career plans, and the strength of recommendations.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and information about this award are available on the Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation website at the address provided above. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following documents: a typed and signed personal statement of up to 1,000 words describing his/her general interests and career goals; a proposed program of study and brief career plan outline; an official transcript certified by the registrar of the applicant's current college or university; and two letters of recommendation as described on the application. All applications and supporting documents must be received online by the deadline date.
