Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a college senior or graduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be a student of color (African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian American, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Latino/Hispanic, or Multiracial).
  6. Must major in healthcare administration or management.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The Corris Boyd Scholarship is available for deserving students of color entering a graduate program in healthcare management. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Mr. Corris Boyd was a senior healthcare executive with HealthTrust Purchasing Group and HCA. He was dedicated to increasing diversity and a proponent of excellence in leadership. He also championed the success of minority and women-owned businesses through strategic partnerships. Mr. Boyd was active in his community, respected by his peers, inspired all who knew him, and a mentor who was the “ultimate leader.” The Scholars Program was established in 2006 in his honor.

Award Amount: $40,000 non-renewable. The award will be paid in four installments.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $40,000.

Applications for and information about the Corris Boyd Scholarship Program are available at the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) website. In addition to a completed online application, students must submit the following items: Copies of GRE and/or GMAT test score reports; A recently updated resume; A personal statement addressing why the student has chosen a career in healthcare administration; Three letters of Recommendation; Transcipts from all institutions of higher education attended; and information on other expected sources of financial assistance. Documents may be uploaded digitally (in .pdf format), mailed, or sent by fax.
