Number of Awards & Eligibility: 30 awards offered annually. There will be 15 awards given to high school seniors, and 15 awards given to current college students.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a high school senior or currently enrolled college freshman, sophomore, or junior.
  4. Must be a woman and/or a minority student.
  5. Must be pursuing a degree leading to a career in computer and video game arts. High school seniors must have already been accepted into the program.
  6. Must plan to enroll or be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  7. Must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent).

Additional Information: In 2007, the ESA Foundation established a scholarship program to assist women and minority students who are pursuing degrees leading to careers in computer and video game arts.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available online on the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) Foundation website. Please note: The scholarship application process is managed by International Scholarship and Tuition Services (ISTS), Inc. Students must register an account on the ISTS application website to access the scholarship application. As part of the application, the student must provide the following materials: financial information from the most recent federal income tax return of the parent(s) who claimed him/her as a dependent, or from his/her most recent tax return if independent (not claimed as a dependent by anyone); an essay of 300 words or less explaining why he/she is interested in pursuing a degree, and subsequently a career, in computer and video game arts; and an essay of 300 words or less explaining why he/she should be chosen as the scholarship winner. The complete application must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. CT on the deadline date.
