Santa Clara County La Raza Lawyers Charitable Foundation

Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two to three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a minority student.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must be from the San Francisco Bay area, OR attend one of the following colleges/universities: Santa Clara University; Lincoln University; UC Berkeley; the Monterey College of Law; University of San Francisco; UC Hastings; Stanford University; Golden Gate University; UC Davis; or McGeorge Schools of Law. The La Raza Lawyers Association will decide on a case by case basis if the student meets all criteria.
  5. Must be currently enrolled in a law program at time of application. Students who have been accepted but are not enrolled (i.e. incoming students) may not apply.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for minority law school students who live in or attend law school in the San Francisco Bay Area. A $20,000 scholarship and one $5,000 scholarship, with the potential for additional scholarships and awards based on funding. Click here to learn more and apply today!

Additional Information: This program includes the following named scholarships: the Annual Andrew Gonzales Scholarship for Leadership to honor La Raza's scholarship founder; and the Annual Daniel V. Hernandez Award for Community Service, in honor of one of La Raza's founding members and San Jose activist. More scholarships may be awarded as funds are available. Scholarship recipients must attend the annual scholarship dinner to receive their awards. This year's dinner will be in or around October.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable. The scholarship grants can be used to assist with living expenses, tuition, books, bar exam courses expenses or anything else the recipient may need to further his/her legal education.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available on the Santa Clara County La Raza Lawyers Association website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a resume; proof of enrollment; and up to two letters of recommendation (optional). Completed applications and supporting materials may be submitted by email using the contact information provided. All documents must be received electronically by the deadline date.
