Description: Established in 2003, the HBCU Council of Shiloh Baptist Church offers the Rev. Dr. Wallace Charles Smith HBCU Scholarship Award of $2,000 to an incoming freshman at an HBCU with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

Application requirements for the Rev. Dr. Wallace Charles Smith HBCU Scholarship Award are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: Eligibility is limited to applicants who meet all of the following criteria: Qualified applicants must be: • A resident of Washington DC, Maryland or Northern Virginia • A member of a church or community-based organization • Complete a Community Service Project (Minimum: 40hrs) • Must obtain two Letters of Recommendation (Teacher/Counselor, Pastor/Church Official, Community Organization) • Obtain official high school/college transcripts

Award Amount: A $2,000 award is offered.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
