In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend Wilberforce University in Ohio.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  4. Must be a resident of Baltimore, MD.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.
  6. Must have a combined math and verbal SAT score of 900 or higher.
  7. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors in Baltimore, MD who are attending Wilberforce University - a Christian, historically black college in Ohio. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher and a combined math and verbal SAT score of 900 or higher.

Additional Information: Provided annually by the CollegeBound Foundation and Wilberforce University, this scholarship is awarded each year to a high school seniors in Baltimore, MD who is planning to attend this historically black college and Christian university in Ohio. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and the highest levels of academic achievement.

Award Amount: $10,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,500.

Information is available online at the CollegeBound Foundation website. Applications are only available online through the online portal. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application (if applicable); community service verification(s) (if applicable); and a copy of his/her most recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. Students applying for the Wilberforce Presidential Excellence Scholarship must also include the following documents for the purpose of determining financial need: a copy of his/her Student Aid Report (SAR) or a copy of his/her parents' most recent tax return; a financial aid award letter from the college he/she will attend (the applicant should send a copy of the financial aid award letter as soon as it is received); and a Maryland Higher Education Commission Financial Aid Award Letter (if applicable). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All application materials must be received online no later than the deadline date.
