In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

  2. Must be majoring in psychology.
  3. Must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program or post-doctoral studies.
  4. Must be a member of an underrepresented minority population.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Additional Information: The APA MFP is an innovative, comprehensive and coordinated training, mentoring and career development program that enhances psychological and behavioral outcomes of ethnic minority communities. MFP is committed to increasing the number of ethnic minority professionals in the field and advancing our understanding of the life experiences of ethnic minority communities.

Award Amount: Fellowships may be awarded up to the full amount of tuition due, and may be renewed for one additional year. Amount varies.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.

Applications and award information are available at the American Psychological Association website at the address provided. In addition to a completed online application, students must submit the following items: a cover letter; two essays as described in the application; three letters of recommendation to be uploaded by the recommenders; official transcripts and GRE scores; and a copy of any training plans or research proposals that must be included for a specific fellowship program. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline date. Applications accepted October - January 15.
