Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior who is able to show proof of acceptance at a junior or four-year college.
  4. Must be of Asian descent as defined by the California Department of Education. The California DOE's definition is available online at www.cde.ca.gov/ds/dc/es/refaq.asp#q1.
  5. Must reside in Santa Clara County, California, OR be the child or grandchild of a Chi Am Circle Club member.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors who are of Asian descent (as defined by the California Department of Education) and reside in Santa Clara County, California, or are the children or grandchildren of a Chi Am Circle Club member. Students must have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher.

Application requirements for the Chi Am Circle Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Essay
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • ACT/SAT scores (req. for some)
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: Scholarships are awarded for merit, financial need, and/or noteworthy extracurricular activities (i.e., performing arts, athletics, community service, etc.). Scholarship recipients will be notified in mid-April. Recipients must attend the Chi Am scholarship awards dinner to receive their awards. The dinner will be held in mid-May at a venue in Santa Clara County.

Award Amount: Scholarship awards range in value from $1,000 to $5,000. Awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available online on the Chi Am Circle Club website. In addition to a completed application, each student must submit the following documents: an essay of one page or less on the topic listed on the application; two letters of reference from non-family members, one of which must be from a teacher or counselor on official letterhead (letters must address the areas listed on the recommendation checklist); a copy of his/her ACT and/or SAT scores, if going to a four-year college; and an official high school transcript (sealed and unopened). Application packages must be assembled in the order listed in the application instructions. Students should not staple or use paper clips; double-sided papers are preferred. All application components must be submitted in a single packet. Application packages must be submitted online by the deadline date.
