Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be attending an accredited law school at least half time.
  2. Must be attending law school pursuing a Juris Doctor.
  3. Student must demonstrate academic achievement.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must demonstrate a commitment to do pro bono and/or public interest legal work.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The NAPABA Law Foundation promote the educational and charitable activities of local Asian Pacific American bar groups and individual APA attorneys in the US. UPS/NLF Gold Mountain Scholarships go to promising law students dedicated to the APA community who are the first in their family to attend law school.

Application requirements for the UPS/NLF Gold Mountain Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Official Transcript
  • Resume
Additional Information: Applicants must be the first in their immediate family to be currently enrolled in, and in good standing, at an American Bar Association (ABA) or Association of American Law Schools (AALS) accredited law school in the United States. Along with this, one must show • A commitment to pro bono or public interest legal work, • Financial need • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident • Commitment to serve the needs of the Asian Pacific Community

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit official transcripts, resume, two letters of recommendation, and an essay of no more than 500 words responding to the questions listed on the application. All materials must be submitted online and must be received no later than the deadline date.
