Number of Awards & Eligibility: 180 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  3. Must have an unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be of Hispanic ancestry.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Description: This award is for high school seniors who have an unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher and be of Hispanic ancestry. Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom, community and for their excellence in various categories including: Business & Finance, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and etc will be considered.

Additional Information: The Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards are supported by Colgate Palmolive's Haz La U Program, which provides $100,000 annually to support Hispanic students on the path to higher education. Students may apply to more than one category, but may only compete in one region (eg: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Phoenix, San Jose, or Washington D.C.). Categories include: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Engineering, Healthcare/Science, and Mathematics. Students are not required to live in the region, but must be willing to travel to the awards ceremony for their designated region at their own expense. A total of 18 winners per region (three from each category) will be selected.

Award Amount: Up to $15,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.

Information about this scholarship is available online at the Hispanic Heritage Foundation website. Students must complete the online application, which includes basic contact information, as well as details about academic and extracurricular activities. In addition to the online application, students must download the 'GPA Verification' form and have their guidance counselors complete the form. This form, along with a letter of recommendation and a copy of their transcript, must be mailed to the address provided and postmarked no later than the deadline date. All online applications must be completed by the deadline date, and all submitted materials must be postmarked by that date, as well.
