Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must earn an associate's degree from an accredited community college by the end of the academic year OR have already earned his/her associate's degree from an accredited community college. The student must not have yet enrolled in a bachelor's degree program.
  3. Must have earned a college grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Must intend to enroll full time in a bachelor's degree program at an eligible college in the coming academic year.
  5. Must plan to attend one of TheDream.US partner institutions. A list of eligible institutions is available online at www.thedream.us/colleges/. Please note: Students must be eligible for in-state tuition if seeking to attend a partner college that is a public institution.
  6. Must be eligible for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) status or TPS (Temporary Protected Status) and have applied for or received DACA or TPS approval. The student must have come to the United States before reaching his/her 16th birthday.

Description: This scholarship is available for student who have graduated or will graduate with their associate's degree who are eligible for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) or TPS (Temporary Protected Status). Students must demonstrate significant financial need, have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and attend one of TheDream.US's partner colleges.

Additional Information: TheDream.US Scholarship Program awards scholarships to Dreamers who have DACA or TPS status and who have demonstrated significant unmet financial need and the determination to succeed in college and in life. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of significant financial need, academic promise, and determination to succeed. These scholarships are intended for students who do not have the resources to finance their education without substantial financial support. Applicants must also apply for all other forms of financial aid for which they may be eligible. Recipients will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply in future scholarship rounds if they meet eligibility requirements.

Award Amount: Up to $8,250 annually, renewable for up to four years or until a bachelor's degree is completed, whichever comes first. The amount is provided as up to $7,250 in tuition assistance and up to $1,000 per year as a stipend to assist with books, living expenses, and other non-tuition costs associated with college. The amount of each award will be based on the current tuition, fees, and estimated cost of books charged by the participating college in which the scholar enrolls. Using an extended amount of time will not increase the amount of the scholarship In order to remain eligible to receive the scholarship, the recipient must meet the following criteria: maintain a cumulative grade point average of "B" (3.0) or better; remain continuously enrolled at least part time (six credit hours); remain current on all college accounts and charges; remain DACA eligible, reapply for DACA or TPS approval as required, and upon re-application, provide Scholarship America with a copy of the receipt for his/her DACA or TPS application or his/her DACA or TPS approval letter; and meet other program commitments outlined in the award letter.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $33,000.

Applications are available online on TheDream.US website. To begin the online application, the student must read and agree to a consent statement, supply a valid and unique email address, and create a username and password. As part of the online application, each student must write two short essays of 600 words or less each on his/her educational and career goals and a challenging circumstance that he/she faced and how he/she overcame it. Each student must also obtain a letter of recommendation from a school teacher, counselor, or advisor, a work or volunteer supervisor, or a community organization representative or mentor who knows him/her well and can speak to his/her strengths and weaknesses. The student must provide the recommender's email address on the online application. Each student must also upload the following supporting documents to the online application: a copy of his/her DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) or TPS (Temporary Protected Status) approval letter or the receipt for his/her submission of his/her DACA or TPS application; a copy of the first two pages of his/her (or his/her parents', if financially dependent) most recently filed IRS Form 1040 if available, or other financial documents that will verify his/her income; and a copy of his/her official community college transcript. The complete application, including all supporting documents, must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CST on the deadline date.
