Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.
  3. Must have the intent to pursue a career in the actuarial profession.
  4. Must have at least one birth parent who is a member of one of the following minority groups: Black/African American, Hispanic, or Native American Indian.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Emphasis will be placed on math or actuarial courses. High school seniors must have a minimum ACT math score of 28 OR SAT math score of 600.

Additional Information: The Actuarial Diversity Scholarship promotes diversity within the profession through an annual scholarship program for Black/African American, Hispanic, Native North American and Pacific Islander students. The scholarship award recognizes and encourages the academic achievements of full-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree that may lead to a career in the actuarial profession. Award amount: $1,000 - Freshman; $2,000 Sophomore; $3,000 - Junior; $4,000 Senior (The award will be divided to cover multiple semesters or other terms comprising the academic year. All scholarship awards are made payable to the U.S. accredited educational institution. Recipients attending school for a portion of the upcoming year (e.g., one semester) will receive the corresponding portion of a full year scholarship amount.) Requirements: • Must have at least one birth parent who is a member of one of the following minority groups: Black/African American, Hispanic, Native North American, Pacific Islander. • Enrolling as or enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at a U.S. accredited educational institution. • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), emphasis on math or actuarial courses. • Entering college freshmen must have a minimum ACT math score of 28 or SAT math score of 620. • Intent on pursuing a career in the actuarial profession.

Award Amount: $1,000 - Freshman; $2,000 Sophomore; $3,000 - Junior; $4,000 Senior  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications are available online from the Actuarial Foundation website. In addition to a completed online application, the student must submit the following: a one- to two-page personal statement that includes responses to the three questions listed on the application; two letters of recommendation; a current college transcript (if the transcript shows grades for only one college semester, the student should provide the last transcript from his/her prior educational institution as well); and an official ACT or SAT score (incoming freshmen only). Letters of recommendation must support the student's math or science aptitude, academic achievement, leadership, business acumen, and communication skills; and must be from a recent actuarial, math or science teacher, professor, adviser or employer. Signed letters of recommendation must be on school letterhead and include the nominator's name, title and contact information. The letters must be forwarded in sealed envelopes by the nominator or be emailed directly from the nominator's school email address to the foundation at the address provided. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date. Please note: Questions regarding the scholarship should be directed to the foundation at the email address provided. The foundation requests that students not call.
