Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards provided varies annually, depending on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be of Hispanic heritage.
  3. Must be a resident of San Diego County in California.
  4. Must be a graduating high school senior at the time of application.

Additional Information: BECA believes that every San Diego County Latino high school graduate who has the desire to attend an institution of higher learning, be provided an opportunity. Education is often tied to finances. Through financial support and mentoring, BECA encourages and empowers aspiring Latino students to pursue their goals. This enables the strengthening of students for lives of purpose, service and leadership in our communities, as well as, contribute to the prosperity of our Nation.

Award Amount: $500 to $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $750.

Applications and information are available on The BECA Foundation website at the address provided. In addition to the completed online application form, students must submit the following items: a personal statement as described on the application; two letters of recommendation; an official transcript; and a copy of the applicant's Student Aid Report (SAR). The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Copies of the attached documents must be scanned, saved in PDF format, and uploaded during the online application process. All transcripts and supporting documentation must be received by the deadline at the postal address provided.
