Danbury Latino Scholarship Fund

Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 20 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be of Latino heritage.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate at the time of application.
  4. Must be a resident of the greater Danbury area in Connecticut (Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, and Ridgefield).

Description: This award is available for Latino students residing in the Greater Danbury area of Connecticut (Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, and Ridgefield). Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need.

Additional Information: Application for this scholarship is open to Latino students residing in the Greater Danbury area of Connecticut (Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, and Ridgefield). A “Latino” is defined as any person, at least one of whose parents and/or grandparents were born in any of the recognized Spanish speaking countries, or territory of the US, and who identify with what is commonly accepted as the “Latino culture”.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and information are available at the Danbury Latino Scholarship Fund website, using the information provided above. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following items: a list of all work experience, honors & awards, and organizational memberships; a short personal essay responding to the prompts listed on the application; two letters of recommendation from individuals who are not related to the applicant; and a signed financial statement such as an IRS W2 form. Applications and supporting documents may be submitted by mail or email and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
