Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually depending on the number of applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must be a citizen of Mexico.
  3. Must reside in Mexico.
  4. Must plan to attend a public university in Texas.
  5. Must be a high school graduate (or equivalent) and enrolled or intending to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program.

Description: This award is available for Mexican citizens who are planning to attend a public college or university in Texas. The student must demonstrate financial need.

Application requirements for the Mexican Citizens with Financial Need – Border Nations Waiver are:

Additional Information: The purpose of this program is to permit a small number of individuals with financial need, who are citizens of Mexico, to enroll in any public university in Texas while paying the resident tuition rate.

Award Amount: This award is for a waiver of non-resident tuition cost. The value of the waiver is the difference between the non-resident and resident tuition rate. The waiver is effective for as long as the student remains eligible.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $9,202.
