Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually, and is based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Oregon or Clark County, Washington for at least one year prior to submitting an application.
  3. Must be accepted (or acceptance-pending) for enrollment, or enrolled in an accredited educational program beyond the secondary level which has an established non-discrimination policy that includes sexual and gender minority groups. Eligible program areas include: college, university; trade or vocational school; or the arts. (Online certificate or degree programs are not eligible.)
  4. Must be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) or the child of a GLBT parent(s).
  5. Must be majoring in a STEM related field.

Description: This award is for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) students, and/or the children of GLBT parents. Applicants must be residents of Oregon or Clark County, Washington, for at least one year prior to submitting an application.

Application requirements for the Portland General Electric Scholarship are:

  • Interview
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
Additional Information: Students must be in demonstrated need of financial assistance. The recipients of the Portland General Electric Scholarship will be chosen on the completion of the scholarship application (and interviews if deemed necessary) which demonstrate: apparent financial need; ability to meet eligibility guidelines; clarity of educational objectives.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.
