The Hispanic Bar Association of Austin Charitable Foundation supports educational programs and services that significantly benefit the Hispanic community, focusing primarily on awarding scholarships to demonstrably talented Hispanic students in Central Texas who express an interest in a legal education. The Foundation is supported primarily by the proceeds from its annual luncheon which takes place every October, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Each year, this scholarship is provided in honor of State Representative Irma Rangel, and it is awarded to assist Hispanic students who are studying law in central Texas.
