Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a legal U.S. resident.
  3. Must be a high school senior at time of application who is eligible to attend a two- or four-year college or university with a full course of study.
  4. Must be under 21 years of age.
  5. Must have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.

Description: U.S. high school seniors of Hispanic descent may apply for this scholarship. Students must be less than 21 years of age at time of application. Application requirements for the Mcdonald’s HACER National Scholarship Program are:

Additional Information: In addition to the national program, student may be eligible for local awards of $1,000 or more. To be considered for a local chapter scholarship, students must reside within a Ronald McDonald House Charities program's geographic area. Some of the markets encompass extensive geographic areas that include locations in more than one state. Additional information is available on the RMHC website. Please note: Applications are accepted nationwide regardless of the presence of a participating local RMHC chapter. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievements, financial need, and their personal qualities and strengths as attested in a personal statement and letters of recommendation. Please note: RMHC offers four scholarship programs; students may only apply for one.

Award Amount: $100,000 paid over four years ($25,000 annually).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $100,000.

Applications are available on the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) website beginning October 1. The student must submit the following with his/her application: a certified high school transcript that contains class rank and test scores; a personal statement of no more than two pages that provides information about his/her Hispanic background, career goals and desire to contribute to his/her community; a one-page letter of recommendation from a teacher or school official detailing his/her background, achievements, leadership abilities and community involvement (form letters will be given minimum consideration); and a current (2014 or 2015) copy of the IRS Form 1040 filed by his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) used to document total income. It is recommended that all supporting documents also be submitted online in PDF format. If uploading all documents is not possible, copies may be mailed to the address provided above. To ensure timely delivery, applications should be sent via certified mail or with a return receipt. All applications must be completed online by the deadline date, and all supporting documents must be uploaded or postmarked by the deadline date.
