Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year. Last year, 21 scholarships were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.
  4. Must be a minority. Minority is defined by the ILREEF as a person of race or national origin that is African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American or Asian.
  5. Must be pursuing courses of study that will prepare the applicant for careers relating to the real estate industry or will enhance the skills and knowledge that he/she currently uses as a real estate professional.

Description: This scholarship is available for minority U.S. students who are residents of the state of Illinois. The applicant must be pursuing courses of study that will prepare him/her for careers relating to the real estate industry or will enhance the skills and knowledge that he/she currently uses as a real estate professional.

Application requirements for the Illinois Minority Real Estate Scholarship Program are:

  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Essay
Additional Information: The Illinois Minority Real Estate Scholarship Program (IMRESP) was created by the State of Illinois and is funded through grants from the Real Estate Research and Education Fund. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has contracted with the Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation (REEF) to administer this program. This scholarship cannot be used for reimbursement of previously attended courses and must be used within 24 months of the award date. Any remaining funds will be returned to the Illinois Minority Real Estate Scholarship Program (IMRESP) for use by other applicants. An individual who has received an IMRESP scholarship becomes eligible to apply for additional financial aid through IMRESP two years after receiving assistance through the program.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
