Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards provided depends on the number of qualified applicants as well as the availability of funding. It is estimated that approximately 30 scholarships will be provided through the KASF Mountain Region Scholarship program.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in reside in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, or Wyoming.
  2. Must be a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must be of Korean descent.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. This award is for U.S. and international students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The KASF Mountain States Regional Chapter Scholarship is available for Korean-American students who reside in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, or Wyoming. Applicants must be high school seniors, undergraduate students, or graduate students at the time of application.

Application requirements for the KASF Mountain States Regional Chapter Scholarship are:

  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: In addition to all other eligibility requirements, the student must be able to demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Scholarship recipients will be notified in August.

Award Amount: $1,000 or higher. Awards may be adjusted by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the applicant's demonstrated financial need.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications are available online at the Korean American Scholarship Fund (KASF) website after April 1. An applicant must submit the following materials to apply for the scholarship: a completed application form; transcripts; two letters of recommendation; one digital photo and one passport photo (both must have been taken in the past 12 months); a one-page essay addressing the topics listed on the application; a copy of his/her acceptance letter into college for the current academic year, if he/she is not currently enrolled in college (applies to high school seniors, college seniors, and returning students); and financial information as detailed below. A U.S. resident must send copies of his/her parents' and his/her tax returns for the prior year (parents' returns not necessary if a graduate student); and a copy of his/her official SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is generated by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. A non-U.S. resident must submit a copy of his/her parents' income tax statement from Korea. KASF will begin accepting completed scholarship applications for the eastern region on April 1. All applications and supporting materials must be submitted online prior to the deadline date.
