Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered annually varies for each area of the country. Contact the KASF regional offices for more information. *Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a Korean American student.
  3. Must be a full-time student.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Must be a resident of one of the southwestern states as designated by KASF. The eligible states are Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas.
  6. Must attend a college/university in one of the southwestern states as designated by KASF. The eligible states are Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas.
  7. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Additional Information: Recipients are selected on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, school activities, and community services. Winners will be announced in August.

Award Amount: The monetary award amount varies annually. The award amount is dependent on the availability of funds and from which region the applicant is applying. In the past, awards have ranged from $500 to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,750.

Applications are available on the Korean American Scholarship Foundation (KASF) website and will be accepted after April 1. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a transcript; two references (must be completed on the recommendation form available on the KASF website); an essay in English or Korean of 500 words or less addressing the topic listed on the application (the word limitation will be strictly enforced); a photo of himself/herself; and a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is generated by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The application and all supporting materials must be completed online by the deadline date.
